This route takes you up the south-east side of the mountain through fine forest and moorland nature. Many thinks it’s overcrowded, but you’ll pass Mawenzi Peaks and cross The Saddle up to Kibo Hut.

Day 1 – Hotel to Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut (Stage 1 – Altitude 2700m)

You will be picked up after breakfast at your accommodation, then transported to the gate for an early start of your Kilimanjaro Adventure. You’ll experience a relatively gentle introduction trek the first day, going at a gentle pace up to Mandara Hut, a 3 to 4 hours hike through the lower forest sections.

Day 2 -Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut.

After breakfast you start the days hike towards the village-like Horombo Hut. You’ll have an attractive day’s walking through the forest, and getting the inspiriting first views of Kibo and Mawenzi. Your path today is even and clear and you’ll be on the trek for 5 to 6 hours till your destination 3720 m above sea level.

Day 3 – Horombo Hut, Acclimatization day.

Based on the Guide and groups wishes use the day for leisurely walking, often up the hill, only to return back down to the lodge. This is good for the body’s ability to adapt to altitude. Maybe up to Zebra Rocks, 1.5 km from Horombo.

Day 4 Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut.

After a hearty breakfast, an 11 kilometer walk to Kibo Hut, 4,732 m., this normally will take you about 6 hours. You will see spectacular mountain vegetation like lobelia, giant cactus and more. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Kibo Hut – Gilman’s Point – Uhuru Peak.

Up no later than 01.00 for the night’s attempt to reach the top. It takes 5 hours to reach Gilman’s Point, 5681 m. From here you will use about one and a half hour to reach Uhuru Peak, the roof of Africa at 5,895 m. Descent to Horombo Hut for overnight.

Day 6 Horombo Hut – Mweka Gate – Arusha/Moshi.

After breakfast down to the Marangu Gate via Mandara Hut. Transport from here to the Airport or your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi.
